College students, particularly from underserved groups, are faced with multiple societal, interpersonal, and environmental concerns, leading to high rates of physical and psychological distress. We at CNRx believe that colleges and universities can– and have a responsibility to– foster the mental and physical health of all students, along with their intellectual development. One way to do this is through evidence-based Campus Nature Rx programming. Drawing from decades of professional expertise, the Campus Nature Rx Academy Certificate Program provides campus leaders a personalized approach to the design of equitable and accessible Nature Rx initiatives designed to improve mental health and students’ overall well-being through nature engagement. 

Well-designed CNRx programming is effective with all students, on any campus– rural to urban. Led by CNRx co-founders and co-directors Don Rakow (Cornell University) and Dorothy Ibes (William & Mary), the program includes live workshops, one-on-one coaching, exclusive resources, and access to a lifelong community of Academy graduates. Drawing on decades of expertise, the Academy guides campus leaders in creating equitable, inclusive, and transformative Nature Rx programs that reduce stress, build resilience, and foster a sense of belonging. Well-designed Nature Rx initiatives not only improve student retention, satisfaction, and academic performance but also ease pressure on campus health services.
