Nature Rx @ Penn

University of Pennsylvania

Penn’s Nature Rx program (Est. 2019) is designed to encourage students, faculty, and staff to spend time outdoors and in nature to reduce stress and anxiety, increase energy, and have protected, restorative moments. While we will give out "prescriptions," anyone can recommend time in nature to a friend or colleague. We have many campus partners who will be providing prescriptions to the Penn community as a reminder that spending time outside is free and can have a positive impact on health and well-being.

Even though we are on an urban campus, there are many great options to get to nature quickly and easily on or near campus. Did you know that Penn's campus is an accredited arboretum? You are never far from green space. Check out our interactive map here to find some spots now! We have partner programs, like weekly wellness walks, that make it easier for you to join others outside.

Campus Partners: Office of the Provost, Wellness at Penn, Center for Public Health Initiatives, Penn Sustainability, Facilities and Real Estate Services, Master of Public Health, Counseling and Psychological Services, and Campus Health

Community Partners: Morris Arboretum, US Forest Service, The Woodlands, Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, Friends of Schuylkill River Park, and University City District.
